Viennafair 2011: The international contemporary art fair with focus on Central and South-Eastern Europe will take place from May 12 - May 15, 2011 at the Congress Center Vienna, Austria.
The unique position of the Viennafair with its successful focus on galleries from the countries of Central-Eastern and South-Eastern Europe will undergo a significant extension in 2011. An open zone within the fair will be available for initiatives and associations from the CEE region for project presentations and individual presentations.
In addition the Viennafair 2011 will extend its gaze beyond the focus region Eastern and South-Eastern Europe and will present galleries from other countries like, for instance, India, the Asian region, Northern Africa and South America. The appearance of the Viennafair itself will also undergo subtle changes reaching from its logo to its forms, flyers and advertising presence. The Austrian artist Gerwald Rockenschaub will re-design the central elements of communication in a number of artistic interventions.
The development of new markets needs an extensive information basis, also on the part of buyers and collectors. Thus the Viennafair, as in previous years, will offer a broad spectrum of background talks, didactic programmes and lectures for those interested in art. Also, art institutions from Austria and abroad will present their exhibition programmes and projects. In addition, a number of other programme focus points are offered at the fair such as the Performance Night, a video programme, as well as special didactic offers especially for art educators and young collectors like “The small ABC of Collecting Contemporary Art”.
